Lily's story
I work as a senior manager in the test department of Nexperia (China). After graduating from college, I have been working in the manufacturing industry for over 17 years. It is a great honor for me to join International Women in Engineering Day 2023. When I came across the question of why I wanted to become an engineer, it prompted me to reflect on my journey.
Personally, during my high school years, I had no clear idea of what I wanted to do in the future. Coming from a small village in northwestern China, where most people migrated to coastal cities for work after junior school, my parents supported my education and encouraged me to pursue high school. I consider myself fortunate for their unwavering support, which enabled me to attend college and pursue a career in engineering instead of working as a farmer. After high school, I chose to study electronic and information engineering, which led me to work as a product engineer.
Throughout my career as an engineer, I have encountered numerous opportunities and challenges. Meeting the demands of my job required continuous learning and the acquisition of new knowledge and skills. Through hard work and dedication, I have been able to seize opportunities for personal growth. I am grateful for the support my company provides, including on-the-job further education in IC development and the chance to connect and receive training outside of China through international team collaborations. These experiences have allowed me to steadily improve and develop professionally.
As a mother of two girls, I have learned to strike a better balance between work and life. I firmly believe in the principle of "no pain, no gain." Participating in International Women in Engineering Day, I am proud to be part of a group that aims to ensure the best test control for semiconductors, thereby ensuring the safety and reliability of applications in our daily lives. I also want to share my belief with all women that while we cannot choose our birth circumstances, we can choose our future. Don't give up and strive to make each day better than the last.
